If You're A Bird, I'm a Bird

This original piece explores the experience of growing as a parent and simultaneously seeing your characteristics in your child -- the good, the talents, the challenging, all of it. The larger horse is in profile, determined, and trying to pave the way and also not stand in front of the hopeful foal. This smaller horse locks eyes but also proves themselves ready to run. The horses are against patterns that show up in rugs and other items in my home, against the hopeful reach of a celestial sky and wavy surface. We are each someone else's ancestor, and our actions and choices now matter. I hope this piece gives sturdiness to anyone else straddling self-growth and parenting in these messy times.
